12 Dec Boomers Are Actually Connected
We’ve all heard our parents or grandparents being teased about having to call the kids to figure out how to use their computer or cell phone. Well these jokes are actually outdated.
They may not have tablets, smartphones and laptops in each appendage like the Millennials, but they’re adopting today’s technology at a much more rapid pace than anyone would have imagined.
In fact, 78% of Boomers are online, and 54% of them own their own laptops. Is it because they have more money to spend on toys than other age groups? A 2012 survey by Nielsen showed that within five years, approximately 50 percent of the U.S. population will be 50 or older, and they’ll control 70 percent of disposable income.
Are you leaving out the 35 to 64 age group from your advertising campaign? They now account for 49 percent of total sales of consumer goods – you’d better have a plan in place to reach this demographic! Now you can plan a mobile or digital campaign and know that you’re indeed reaching the rapidly connected boomers with your efforts.
