03 Dec How Important is a Healthy Home? Houzz Knows!

According to a study by Houzz in October, homeowners are now recognizing how much their homes can impact health. In fact, 50 percent of homeowners in the study have opted to remodel just to prevent health issues.

The study surveyed 808 registered Houzz users. Those that rated their homes as “healthy” were shown to have better lighting, lower noise levels, less allergens and mold, and fewer pest interactions.

Builder Online notes that Baby Boomers and Gen X tend to be the most critical of their home environments, and one in five homeowners from those generations perceive their home as have a negative impact on their health.

Health and wellness have been a buzz in the real estate industry for quite some time. Builder Online also reports that the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) recently created protocols to help simplify the sustainable design process toward healthier spaces.
